Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Review | Game Rant

Added: 26.05.2013 11:17 | 9 views | 0 comments

Game Rant: "While anyone whos already played the title wont gain anything new from the portable iteration, theres no denying that Donkey Kong Country Returns is an exceptional game. As one of the best platformers in recent memory (not just on the Wii, but debatably of all time), 3DS owners cant go wrong with Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Those that have played the original to death will enjoy the additional 9th world that is accessible after beating the initial campaign, but they may not want to trek through a game they completed a short time ago to access the content. That said, its still a phenomenal title, and the ability to play it on the go is far from a bad thing."

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Review | Ready-Up

Ready-Up writes: 'Kong-Ratulations to Retro Studios!! OK, lets get this out of the way first: Donkey Kong Returns 3D is one of the best platformers on the 3DS, second only to the Mario series. Its an almost direct port of the 2010 Wii game with some minor, and one major, improvement. Its a new-school remake of an old-school classic, and looks and plays almost exactly the same as the SNES version did. Unlike the old version which just had 3D renders of complex polygon models, here the whole thing is rendered in 3D. You pound the ground, and the background shakes in time with your thumps. The 3D is used really well too, with waves crashing into the screen, Marios early nemesis shoots into the background, and theres a sense of depth to the 2.5D platformer that shows off the 3D capabilities of the 3DS In fact, it works so well that its surprising to learn that it wasnt designed for the 3DS in the first place, and the closeness of the port actually makes the game more enj...

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Review | Blistered Thumbs

BT writes: It must always be kept in mind that DKCR 3D is still a great game, and those who didnt get the opportunity to play it on the Wii should certainly take advantage of the chance to play it now. The main gripe I have with the game is that unlike the SNES games, DKCR has been surpassed since it came out. While the game may have been a show that mainstream developers can make kickass 2D platformers too, Ubisoft released Rayman Origins just a year later, which is still shockingly good and puts DKCR to shame. Donkey Kong Country may once have been king of the jungle, but his legacy just doesnt hold up to the current competition in terms of design or fun.

Nintendo Scares Innocent Children All For A Monkey's Amusement

I've played Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. I even wrote about how awesome the new items and levels are in my review, but apparently I missed the part where Donkey Kong breaks through a wall and scares the crap out of you, resulting in a lost life.
